Massive Fire Rages at Key Australian Oil Refinery
1 min read

Firefighters are battling a massive blaze at the Geelong oil refinery, one of only two such facilities in Australia. The fire, which broke out earlier today, is burning out of control at the refinery located southwest of Melbourne.
Local authorities have issued emergency warnings for nearby residents to shelter in place and close all windows and doors due to the thick black smoke billowing from the site. Several fire crews have been deployed to the scene, but they are struggling to contain the intense flames.
The Geelong refinery is a critical piece of Australia's energy infrastructure, processing around 120,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Its closure due to the fire could lead to fuel supply disruptions across the state of Victoria. Industry experts warn that the country may need to rely more heavily on imported fuel if the refinery remains offline for an extended period.
