Deadly Blaze at Bengal Border Outpost Claims BSF Officer's Life
1 min read
Tragedy struck the Bankra border outpost in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas as a devastating fire engulfed a fuel depot. Assistant Sub Inspector Jagi Ram tragically lost his life after being trapped inside during a blast that ignited the blaze.
The fuel depot supplied fuel for Border Security Force (BSF) boats patrolling the Sundarbans, a vast mangrove forest region shared by India and Bangladesh. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by authorities.
Jagi Ram, an experienced BSF officer, was on duty at the time of the incident. Attempts were made to rescue him, but the intensity of the fire and subsequent explosions prevented access to the depot. Sadly, the 45-year-old officer succumbed to the flames.
The Bankra border outpost plays a crucial role in securing the porous India-Bangladesh border in the Sundarbans. The loss of Jagi Ram, a dedicated public servant, is a tragic blow to the BSF and the local community. Officials have vowed to provide all necessary support to the officer's family and investigate the incident thoroughly to prevent such tragedies in the future.
