Legendary Arsenal Goalkeeper Alex Manninger Dies in Tragic Accident

Legendary former Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger has tragically passed away in a road accident, his first club Red Bull Salzburg has announced. Manninger, who won two Premier League titles with the Gunners, was 48 years old.

Manninger joined Arsenal in 1997 and served as the club's backup goalkeeper behind David Seaman for five seasons. During his time at Highbury, he made 26 appearances across all competitions, helping the team win the Premier League in 1997-98 and 1999-2000. Known for his reliable performances and strong command of his area, Manninger was a popular figure among Arsenal fans.

After leaving the Gunners in 2002, Manninger went on to play for a number of clubs across Europe, including Juventus, Augsburg, and FC Lucerne, before retiring in 2018. In a statement, Red Bull Salzburg expressed their profound sadness at the loss of their former player, describing Manninger as a 'true club legend' who would be deeply missed.
