Hezbollah Launches Rocket Attack on Northern Israel Ahead of Lebanon Ceasefire
2 min read

Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, launched a rocket attack on northern Israel on Thursday, just hours before a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was set to be announced. The attack targeted the city of Kiryat Shmona, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene to extinguish the resulting blaze.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region following days of cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. The militant group has been engaged in a long-running conflict with Israel, which has carried out numerous airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in recent years.
Israeli officials have not yet provided details on any casualties or the extent of the damage caused by the rocket attack. However, the timing of the strike, just before the anticipated ceasefire announcement, suggests that Hezbollah may have been seeking to assert its presence and influence in the region before a potential de-escalation of hostilities.
The ceasefire, which is expected to be announced later on Thursday, is the result of mediation efforts by the United Nations and other international actors. It is hoped that the agreement will bring a temporary respite to the ongoing tensions and violence between Israel and Hezbollah, which have threatened to escalate into a larger regional conflict.
