At least eight people were killed and several others injured after a gas pipeline exploded in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday. The blast occurred in the Kohat district, causing a massive fire that engulfed nearby homes and vehicles.
According to local authorities, the pipeline belonged to the state-owned Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and was carrying natural gas when the explosion happened. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but officials suspect it may have been the result of a technical fault or sabotage.
Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and firefighters worked for hours to bring the blaze under control. Several critically injured victims were airlifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The provincial government has announced compensation for the families of those killed in the incident.
