US Defense Secretary Slams Media Coverage of Iran Conflict
1 min read

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has sharply criticized the media's coverage of the ongoing conflict with Iran. In a statement released on Monday, Hegseth accused news outlets of downplaying the threat posed by Iran and misrepresenting the US government's response.
Hegseth claimed that the press has failed to adequately report on Iran's destabilizing activities in the region, including its support for terrorist groups and its development of ballistic missile capabilities. He argued that the media's focus on diplomatic efforts and the potential for de-escalation has obscured the gravity of the situation.
"The American people deserve to know the truth about the threat Iran poses to our national security," Hegseth said. "Instead, they are being fed a narrative that minimizes the danger and portrays the US as the aggressor." The defense secretary called on news organizations to provide more balanced and comprehensive reporting on the conflict.
The criticism comes amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran, following a series of attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman and the downing of a US surveillance drone by Iranian forces. The Trump administration has responded with increased economic sanctions and the deployment of additional military assets to the region.
