Two-Wheeler Sales Soar to New Heights in FY2026

India's two-wheeler industry has reached new milestones, with record-breaking sales in the fiscal year 2026. TVS Motor Co. led the charge, selling a remarkable 4.24 million two-wheelers, a 21% increase from the previous year.

Scooters were the driving force behind this stellar performance, with TVS selling 2.30 million units, up 27% year-over-year. The company's electric scooter portfolio, including the iQube and Orbiter, contributed to 16% of its total scooter sales, showcasing the growing demand for eco-friendly mobility solutions.

In the motorcycle segment, TVS also achieved its highest-ever sales, with 1.41 million units sold, an 18% increase from the previous fiscal year. The Raider model, in the 125cc category, was a standout performer, with sales of 4.26 million units, a 7% year-over-year growth.

The overall two-wheeler industry in India saw a remarkable recovery, with total sales reaching 21.42 million units, a 13.4% increase from the previous year. This rebound was driven by improved affordability, better rural cash flows, and a wider range of products catering to diverse consumer preferences.

The competitive landscape also saw notable changes, with Hero MotoCorp retaining its leadership position, while TVS emerged as the biggest market share gainer among the top five manufacturers. In the electric two-wheeler segment, registrations rose 22% to 1.40 million units, indicating a gradual but steady shift towards electrification.
